Fin is normally a vivacious 8 year
old with the spark of life in her
eyes, but recently she was
diagnosed with Burkitts Luekemea.
Fin and her family have had to
drop everything and go to Sydney
for treatment.
We would like to help Fin and her family and hope you can too!
Fin was born on the 4/12/98, Fin is short Finuala (derived from an Irish name) Fin has a sister Eloise
who has been a big help as well as a big sister, a mum Jenny and dad Nick Vanstekelenburg.
The Vansteks have carved out a beautiful home in the Bush near Cobargo NSW Australia. They have
all been working very hard for the last few years to build their family home, but the house is not quite
finished. Now they have received some shock news, Finn had the flu for a couple of days but it
seemed to linger and then suddenly worsened Nick and Jen took Finn into Bega Hospital only to be
immediately transferred to Sydney's Westmead childrens Hospital where they received the bad news
Fin has a form of Leukemia called Burkitt's Leukemia, Doctors at Westmead have begun treatment
straight away to stabilise Finn and then started her on Chemo treatment to fight the aggressive
Cancer. Nick and Jen are keeping a bed side vigil in Westmead children's hospital, the treatment
may take months but there is a good chance Finn will make it.
Over the next few months Nick and Jen will need to stay in Sydney to be close to Fin while she
continues with the treatment, they will need to keep their car going, organise Schooling for Eloise
and so many other things.  On top of all that they will need to pay their normal household bills back
home in the Bega Valley as well as find someone to look after the animals etc.Their lives have been
turned upside down.

Its a huge task and we want to help, there is only so much their family and friends can do so we
would like to make a donation of $1000 dollars to get the ball rolling, we don't expect anyone to
stretch their budget too far, but hope that if you can spare a few dollars you might help too.  Nick and
Jen are customers and friends of ours and as long as we have known them they have never asked
for a free ride they have always worked for everything they have. But you can imagine how this has
and will continue to hurt them in so many different ways, including financially. We asked Nick and
Jenny for Fin's bank account number so anyone can make a donation at any time directly to Fin. We
hope with your donation, no matter how small we can all help the whole family through this difficult
time.

Fin said the best day in here life so far was the day she got her dog Lucy and the thing she looks
forward to the most is waking up in her own bedroom, when the house is finished. We hope that with
the help of so many great people that Nick will be able to have her new bedroom finished for her
return, that would be the best surprise she could imagine.
